The program is basically a weekend enrichment program to help low income families take quality outings with their children. The program is not limited to low income families but low income families can participate at no cost to the children and a very low cost to the parent.
Children who receive free or reduced lunch can attend at no cost by providing a copy of their lunch approval letter to Ms. Lipford. The parents have to pay $25 to attend even if the children are on the free program. One adult can bring up to 5 children and they do not have to be the legal guardian for all the children they bring. A parent can send a child without an adult but in that case they will have to pay $25 even if the child is on the free lunch program.
The trip includes transportation, entrance into the activity and lunch.
The school staff would not be involved at all. The parents go on the website and choose the trip they would like to take and do an online registration form, send the free lunch form to Ms. Lipford (if applicable), and pay the $25 fee for each person required to pay. The trips leave from Arbor Place Mall.
The trips are designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Pre-K students can attend if they have an older sibling going on the trip.
